If you have had the much dreaded error 1001 when you get to Netflix and try to watch a movie you will understand the frustration in trying to figure out what works to fix it.
We had that issue and tried many fixes to no avail.
We are running Windows Vista 32bit
and the solution that worked and allowed the player to begin working
was to install an older version of Silverlight 4

first you will want to remove whatever version you have on your system in the
ADD/Remove programs area of your computer
once we downloaded and installed the Version 4
and went back to netflix it worked perfectly, this was after several days of searching and changing settings etc...
we were so happy to find that this fixed it for us and hope this will help if you are having the same error 1001 problem on netflix and with the silverlight.
